Stellate Ganglion Block

Upper Body Pain Relief

A Stellate Ganglion Block is a medical treatment used to help reduce pain in the head, neck, arms, or chest caused by certain conditions such as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This treatment involves blocking the stellate ganglion, which is a group of nerves located in the neck.

The Procedure

To perform the block, a doctor will first numb the area with a local anesthetic. They will then insert a small needle through your neck and guide it to the stellate ganglion using ultrasound or other imaging techniques.

Once the needle is in place, a special medication called a local anesthetic or steroid is injected. The medication works by blocking pain signals from the stellate ganglion.

The block typically only takes a few minutes to complete and you can usually go home the same day. You may need to rest for a short period of time after the block and avoid strenuous activity for a few days.

It’s important to note that this treatment should only be done under the guidance of a medical professional and after careful consideration of your individual health needs.
