Arthritis:
Either of the two types that affect the wrist (osteoarthritis
and rheumatoid), characterized
by degeneration of joint cartilage causing inflammation. Look for a
support that provides
minimal to moderate compression and warmth.
Basal Joint Arthritis:
All the common symptoms of arthritis occurring at the base of
the thumb caused by
normal wear and tear. Look for a support that encloses the thumb.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:
Compression o the median nerve, running from the forearm to the
hand, causes numbness,
weakness, tingling, aching and pain in the hand. Look for a support
wrap that provides
good circumferential pressure to compress and open up the carpal
tunnel.
DeQuervain's Tendonitis:
Pain and tenderness o the thumb side of the wrist caused by
irritation of the area around
the tendons of the thumb. Look for a support that limits thumb
motion.
Ligament Injuries:
Strains, sprains or tears of the tendons of ligaments around the
wrist joint.
Look for a support that provides compression and stability.
