SELECTIVE NERVE ROOT

You have just received a selective nerve root injection. This means that the physician has injected medication into one or more specific nerves which may be causing your pain.

Initially, your pain may be increase until the medication has become fully effective. This may take up to one week. To help minimize your discomfort, please use your pain medications as prescribed. The use of ice for the first 24 hours (five minutes out of each hour) and moist heat after that may also help manage your discomfort. Please remember to exercise caution when using ice or moist heat as both may cause the area to become numb. Monitor your skin condition at regular intervals.
