BLOOD PATCH

You have just received a blood patch procedure. This procedure was necessary because during your previous epidural injection, a small amount of spinal fluid leaked into your epidural space. This may have caused a severe headache, nausea and/or vomiting. The blood patch acts like a band-aid and seals the leak.

In most instances, your symptoms will resolve immediately. Please rest for the next 12 hours. Avoid straining for bowel movements and drink a lot of caffeinated beverages.
