Safely clean out your
medicine cabinet |
|
Today, the medicine
cabinet is a source of
advertant and
inadvertant prescription
drug deaths. Many people
think that because they
are prescription drugs,
they are safe, but in
the wrong hands, they
can be deadly.

More than seven
million
Americans
currently abuse
prescription
drugs, according
to the 2009
Substance
Abuse and Mental
Health Services
Administration's
National Survey
on Drug Use and
Health. Each
day,
approximately,
2,500 teens use
prescription
drugs to get
high for the
first time
according to the
Partnership for
a Drug Free
America. Studies
show that a
majority of
abused
prescription
drugs are
obtained from
family and
friends,
including the
home medicine
cabinet. |

Help Stop the
Prescription
Drug Epidemic |
|
As the mother of
two teenagers, I
have a genuine
concern
regarding our
current
prescription
drug epidemic.
Pinellas County
and Hillsborough
County are some
of the leading
areas of
prescription
drug deaths.
Help keep our
community safe
by emptying out
your medicine
cabinet of
unused or
expired drugs.
