The holiday season
is here. You may be
celebrating with
family and friends
or participating in
activities that are
special to you. But,
if you are dealing
with loss and grief,
the holidays may not
seem so joyful.
Recent studies have
shown that 80% of
chronic pain
patients suffer from
depression. That,
compounded with
grief may be a
perfect set up for
the "Holiday Blues".
It is important to
realize that each
day is filled with
24 hours. Holidays
are nothing more
than another 24 hour
day.
It's okay to be
alone during the
holidays. Don't feel
pressured into being
festive or
celebratory. Honor
your feelings or
your desire to be
alone and
reflective.
Make sure that you
take care of
yourself. Put your
needs first.
Phototherapy has
been shown to be
very effective for
Holiday Depression.
Try to get out in
the beautiful
Florida sunshine at
least 15 minutes
every day. If you
start to feel
blue.....take a
walk.
